Ephesians 6:12 ~ 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Some people walk through life never realizing that there is a war going on in the spirit realm. I can understand this about unbelievers but Christians should be aware, not just of the battle, but that they are participating in it whether they know it or not.
You see, the battle is for your soul first, and if that battle is lost to the enemy, he fights to keep you defeated and ineffective in this life. You are the object of the fight; you are the purpose for the battle. The devil hates you. If he had his perfect will he would kill you, but he will settle for giving you a “beatdown” in this life. Here are a few things that will help you.
1) Be aware that you have an adversary.
If you read the book of Job you will see that Job was completely unaware that he had an adversary. Knowing that you have an enemy will make you aware and alert for attacks.
2) Be aware that the victory is already won in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:20-23 ~ 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also
in that which is to come.22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His
body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
God has put all things under Christ’s feet. Christ’s feet are in His BODY. Therefore all things are under OUR feet because we are the body of Christ.
3) Take your place and make your stand.
Our Lord has won the battle in the spirit, but we must enforce it in the natural. Things are always won in the spirit before they are won and manifest in the natural. The way we obtain our victory is to take our stand in Christ. Ephesians tell us how to take our place and maintain it until we see the victory.
Ephesians 6:10-18 ~ 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
I was a Christian for years, knowing what this verse said and even being able to quote it but was not DOING the verse. Most Christians are aware of this passage and still don’t walk in it because they don’t really believe that it will make much difference in their life. If they only knew the damage that it does to Satan’s plans they would be relentless in this. Remember that it is only the doers of the Word that are blessed.
4) Stay in faith. Keep the pressure on.
1 John 5:4 ~ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
We know that Christ paid the price for our sin, our sickness and our poverty. We have been redeemed from destruction and the curse, yet we see Christians all the time struggling with sickness, disease, poverty and destruction.
Don’t settle for anything short of your complete redemption. Take your stand and take what is rightfully yours. It is your inheritance.
