~ YOU Are Called To Full Time Ministry ~

When someone says, “full-time ministry,” we automatically assume this refers to a person who makes their living from being in the ministry. By taking this train of thought, by default, we put everyone else in the category of NOT being in full-time ministry.

Just because you work a secular job, are a stay at home mom, in the military, or even unemployed, realize that YOU ARE IN FULL TIME MINISTRY.

The word “minister” is just a fancy word for servant, and we are all servants of the LORD.

Know that ministering to your family is an honorable vocation, as well as serving your country, or working your job, or whatever it is you are doing, as long as you approach it as a servant of the Lord, as His representative, doing it with all your heart.

Colossians 3:23 ~ And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

How to get it right?

~decisions, decisions, decisions~

From the moment we wake up in the morning until the moment we lay our heads down at night, there is one thing we all have in common regardless our personality traits and/or inclinations. This would be that we all make decisions, from the most immediate things like; What clothes will I wear? to more complex things like, Who will I marry? We all make decisions and making decisions can be challenging.

There are many variables and challenges that come our way everyday and without God’s guidance we cannot be on the top of our game. We need His help to get it right!

Only in Him can your path be straightened and only in Him will all things work to your benefit. Never give up in your pursuit to follow His lead because His ways are higher and better than yours. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Remember, it is good to have plans, but follow His directions. When in conflict, your plans should always yield to His plan.

I would like to encourage you today with some verses from the Book of Proverbs on this topic. Please read them. From these verses I drew an acronym for the word PLANS. It is not meant to be your ABCs of life, but more as key components that should be part of your decision-making process.

P- Pray for direction.

L- Listen to counsel.

A- Always let God have the final word.

N- No need to rush. God’s timing is the right one.

S- Success should always be measured by God’s
standards and not men’s standards.

~ Don’t Get Too Comfortable ~

Philippians 4:11 ~ Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have
learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

Contentment comes from being comforted by THE Comforter, the Holy Spirit. Being comfortable is NOT the same as being comforted.

Comfortable is: Being free from stress or tension and enjoying the security of your current state.

Christians are not called to be “comfortable,” if we were, we would have no need for a Comforter. (the Holy Ghost) In fact, if you find yourself too comfortable, you are probably not obeying God in some areas of your life.

Notice that Paul had to “learn” how to be content? That indicates a process. He lived a life that was full of excitement, miracles and wonder, but you never see him comfortable. Yet he learned to be content.

The big questions are this: Was he believing to rise up out of those hard places? Was He believing to be set free from prison? Was his disciple Timothy comfortable with his stomach problems? Do you think that Paul and Timothy prayed for Timothy’s healing that they both knew was provided in Christ’s redemption? Or were they so comfortable being sick and in prison that they chose to not excersise their faith to recieve deliverence and healing, deciding to be “content” with where they were?

When we see promises from God that we are not walking in fully, be it healing, peace, wisdom, the fullness of the Spirit, or material and financial blessing, it is wrong to be passive and “comfortable” with where we are and not put forth the effort to increase our faith to recieve it ALL. That is being spiritually irresponsible and spiritually lazy.

Learn to be “content” where you are, but if you are comfortable staying there, you are probably not stretching your faith like it needs to be.

God is always moving up and forward, there is no status quo with Him. He will
constantly be asking you to do things that are beyond your capabilities. When you are involved with doing something that you know you are incapable of, YOU WILL NEED A COMFORTER. If you are not living every day with a need for the Comforter, You are not living life to its fullest.

~ Spiritual Maturity vs. Emotional Maturity~

You can’t be spiritually mature and emotionally immature at the same time. The more spiritually mature you are, the less you are led by emotions. A spiritually mature person has control of their emotions, not allowing their emotions to control them. Part of your spiritual development is learning not to walk by sight/feelings, but walking by faith.

Some people can seem very mature spiritually until something happens that brings out strong emotions, then they fall apart. Your emotional and spiritual maturity cannot be on two different levels.

For instance: If your spiritual maturity is on a 7th grade level and your
emotional maturity is on a 3rd grade level… guess what, your spiritual maturity is also at 3rd grade. Your spirit man and your soul (mind, will, emotions) are eternally connected. You need your soul to feed and strengthen  your spirit, that is why the bible says to renew your mind. Lets try to make sure we are balanced in our growth.

~ Faith Confessions For Your Children ~

Children are a heritage from the Lord. God says they are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. What a powerful statement!

~ Psalm 127:3-5 ~ 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

We have a responsibility to raise up our children in a way that they become our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our children have a will of their own. Sometimes that will can be very strong. Normally, your faith cannot override another persons will if they refuse to agree with you in faith, however your children are under your covering and you DO have spiritual authority over them wether they are grown up and running from God or being raised in your home as a child.

God has some things to say about your kids. Promises that are eternal and available, but you must obtain them by faith. Speaking HIS words over their life will build your faith for these promises and help shape and mold them into what He intended them to be.

Like “arrows in the hand of a warrior,” you can launch them into adulthood with confidence that they will hit their mark, find their place, and be an effective, productive brother or sister in Christ.
