~ Praying To See How God Sees? ~

For years I prayed that God would help me see things, people and situations the way He sees them. That sounds like a pretty good prayer don’t you think? I did too, until recently the Lord told me NOT to pray that way any more. He said: “Instead, pray that you would see things the way I want you to see them.”

At first I thought, “Isn’t that the same thing?” But He showed me that it wasn’t. I saw that man is not capable of seeing the way God sees, the responsibility is far too great. To see the true heart of every person and all of the details about every situation, to see the cause and effect of everyone’s actions, not mention the future outcome, would be overwhelming and confusing.

Talk about information overload! I was limiting God by praying for something that He was not able to give me. Thank God for His mercy! Praying beyond God’s ability to answer me was a new thought process all together. I had to reevaluate how I was praying about everything.

I now understand that we only need to see and know very little if we are living by faith. We are to walk in love believing the best of every person. If we saw what was in the hearts and minds of every person it would be hard to believe the best of them. We only need to know the next step, the rest we walk out by faith, trusting that God knows best and that He only wants the best for us.

The Word of God gives us plenty of instructions on how we should see things, and if Gods Word abides in us it filters everything we see with spiritual insight. I believe now that asking God to help me see things the way He would have me see them is another way of asking for His wisdom. It also removes a huge burden to understand every detail.

As Christians we are called to live a life of the Spirit. We should ALL be tuned in to ONE spirit, the Holy Spirit, and commit ourselves to His leading. When we do this there is no danger of mistakes and no need to understand every single detail.

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

If God gave us every detail of every situation we would have no need for faith, and without faith it would be impossible to please Him.

Hebrews 11:6 ~ But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Just knowing that God is pleased with faith gives me a sort of comfort when I don’t know the details of a situation. I embrace the opportunity to excercise and grow in my faith … to trust Him.

There is a passage  in Philippians that has come alive to me since I’ve had this revelation.

Philippians 4:6-8 ~ 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

You see, once we do verse 6 and 7, the burden of communication is on Him. In verse 8 it gives us the instruction on what to do while we are believing to be led by the Holy Spirit. We think on these things in verse 8 and it keeps us on the right frequency to receive the leading of Peace, it keeps us in faith and makes our walk pleasing to God.

We don’t need to see how God sees. We only need to see enough to take the next step. Sometimes that step may look like the wrong one in the natural. Sometimes that step will go against your understanding, but the Peace of God PASSES your understanding. This is why we must learn to be led by Peace.

Peace is a present day ministry of the Holy Spirit and is to be the arbitrator of our lives, sitting as ruler over everything and every decision.

Colossians 3:15 ~ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Bottom line? To really walk by faith we must understand Peace and its function in our lives. The more we walk in Peace, the less we will feel the need to know all the details.

~You can’t FALL in Love … It takes WORK~

We have all heard the old phrase “I’m falling in love” but you can’t fall in love,
that is just infatuation. To fall into something indicates a mistake or
something accidental. Love is far more purposeful than that. It takes concentrated effort and focus.

Love is not defined until you have worked at it for a while, invested something in it. If you truly LOVE, then you have given of yourself in a selfless, no strings attached way.

Love can only be expressed through the actions that it prompts. Love cannot be conveyed through words alone, love must be shown. LOVE is a verb, not just a noun. To really learn about LOVE, we must learn from the person of LOVE. The bible says that GOD IS LOVE.

1 John 4:8 ~ He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

God’s is always reaching out to us wanting to invest in us, expressing His Love to us and through us. He desires to impart His very nature and character in us. Our New Testament command is to LOVE. To fulfill that command we must open ourselves up to be loved by the creator, allowing Him to show us HIS love.

Mark 12:30 ~ And you shall  love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment.

You didn’t “Fall in love” with God. He first loved you, He planted the seed, He made the investment, he put in the work FIRST. That is what enabled YOU to love Him. Love only comes from one place, the LORD. If truly love another person, that is evidence that God has made an investment in YOU.

1 John 4:19 ~ We love Him  because He first loved us.

Love is a selfless commitment of devotion that is directed by your will, and its source is God. Love on purpose.

~ Words, The Steering Wheel Of Your Life ~

Part of the mission God has given to me is to teach and encourage people to speak God’s Word and create an awareness of the power of our words. This is a huge part of living by faith.

Saying what God says about you and putting yourself in agreement with Him by confessing what He says in His Word will set you on a course to fulfill your divine destiny on this earth and reach your potential in Christ.

I am fully convinced by the Word of God that we can change our lives by what we say. The Word of God is full of instruction and examples of the use of words and their importance in our lives. The book of Proverbs is an instruction in wisdom and it is filled with passages about the power and effect of our words. We will refer to some of them later, but first take a look at what James says about the power of the tongue and its ability to direct the course of our lives.

James 3:3-5 ~ Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

We have some great comparisons here that show us the power of our words. The small bit in the horse’s mouth can turn and direct that powerful animal and change its course. And just like a tiny rudder on a huge ship can point it in any
direction, what we say with our mouth is like the steering wheel of our life, it directs and determines our direction and course.

It has been my observation that most Christians DO NOT believe this principle. If they did, they would be more selective in what they are saying.

Lets look at some more scripture that describe the awesome power of the tongue.

Proverbs 18:20 ~ A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit
of his mouth;
from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

Proverbs 18:21 ~ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and
those who love it will eat its fruit.

Is it really true that life and death are in the power of the tongue, the power to speak life or death to your situation? Your body, your job, your career, your family, your finances, your ministry, your mind, they are ALL affected by what is coming out of your mouth.

If you look at today’s most popular motivational speakers, you will see that they have some understanding of these principles and have had great success applying them to their lives and the lives of their followers. Most of them don’t even know that there are eternal spiritual laws at work, and yet they know that they can change their world with the things that they say. And that is exactly the point.

You don’t have to know why things happen as long as you know that they DO happen. There is more than enough scripture that plainly spells out the power that you have in your words without you having to do an exegetical theological study on the topic.

God has made it very plain and simple. This is a topic that should be above argument and easy for all to see because of the sheer volume of scripture on the subject. Yet when you mention confession of God’s Word people come out of the woodwork to take a position against it.

This makes perfect sense to me because I know that the enemy HATES it when you speak God’s Word. Jesus spoke it when He defeated Satan in the wilderness and you can speak it to defeat Satan in your own life.

When the devil comes to steal kill and destroy, you can use God’s word build up, give life, and prosper.

Here are a few more scriptures to help drive the importance of your words:

Job 22:28 ~ You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.

Proverbs 10:11 ~ The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But
violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

Proverbs 15:4 ~ A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But
perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Mark 11:23 ~ For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Isaiah 57:19 ~ I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,” Says the LORD, “And I will heal him.”

Psalm 103:20 ~ Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.

Joshua 1:8 ~ This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

These are just a few passages that tell us the power that is available to us. This is a huge responsibility. These verses would not be in the bible unless God wanted us to be aware of this power and use it for good.

Take heed to what is coming out of your mouth. If it does not build up and bless, strengthen and encourage, produce faith and create a vision for success … DON’T SAY IT!  Remember, when you speak … it should be an improvement on silence.
