Don’t be a Holiday Pooper! :)

It Is the season to be jolly…

Create a chain reaction of kindness.

Be kind to yourself first, and be kind to others as well.

When you are waiting in line to pay for your merchandise at store, you get to do a little people watching.

You get to witness how a rude remark can spread bitterness through the line in seconds, and when all purchases are done, and people are gone… there is one sad, frustrated, and unappreciated cashier left behind.

How about we take a stand and do some damage control with kindness. We can’t control what people say or do, but we can stop a fire from spreading in a line. We can break the chain of rude remarks and not pass them on. Don’t contribute to holiday bullying. Be kind and follow the old saying—If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t anything at all!- *The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18 *

We have the power to transform our own lives and the lives of others through simple acts of kindness. So, go ahead and dare to make the world a better place one purchase at a time.

Take a moment today to show kindness. Treat people with respect and share a smile as you go by.

Happy Shopping!

The Centurion’s Faith

Accounts in the bible are more than just stories. We read and even wonder in awe about the great deeds they showcase. One of these stories for me was the centurion,  whose faith got his servant healed. (Luke 7:1-10 ttp://www.biblegateway.com/pass age/?search=Luke%207:1-10&version=NIV ).

A few words brought this story home to me. The centurion’s faith not only got his servant healed, but also had Jesus admire and reference it as the greatest He had ever seen.~> Why is this account in the Bible? Is is here to bring shame on me or Jesus’ followers for not having such faith? No, I believe one of the main things Jesus wanted to showcase here was not how great this man’s faith was or to compare ours to it, but to show  how simple and powerful faith is.

So when he heard about

Jesus…

                  Bingo!

He heard about Jesus- faith came.

He heard about Jesus!  The centurion acted on what he heard because he believed, expected something good to happen and it did. Faith comes by hearing… If my faith walk does not display what I hope for, it most likely has a lot to do with what I am  hearing. I know faith comes by hearing.

*The question is

Am I hearing about Jesus?

I need to spend more time hearing about Jesus because it will have a great impact on my faith, what I say, do and get to accomplish for Him.

You are a Sluggard if…

What is a Sluggard?

Sluggard is defined by the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary as an habitually lazy person. *A few synonyms for sluggard are lazybones, deadbeat, do-nothing, drone, idler, lay about, loafer, lotus-eater, slouch, slug, slugabed, and couch potato.

Do you know anybody that fits this description? Shhhh! Don’t tell!

If you are not wise with your time you will find out how quick time flies. Observe the tiny ants and learn. Be a person with initiative, be a self-starter, and don’t waste time.

Start, finish, and do things right because time flies when you are not wise.

———————————————————————————————-

Proverbs 6:6-11

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways and be wise!–Which, having no chief, overseer, or ruler, Provides her food in the summer and gathers her supplies in the harvest. How long will you sleep, O sluggard?

When will you arise out of your sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down and sleep–So will your poverty come like a robber or one who travels [with slowly but surely approaching steps] and your want like an armed man [making you helpless].

Warnings for Sluggards or Lazy Peeps !!!!!

The Book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom concerning laziness and warnings to the lazy person. (Sorry but no easy links for these verses. This time you will have to actually use your Bible. ) 🙂

A lazy peep hates work.~ Proverbs 21:25

A lazy peep loves sleep.~ Proverbs26:14

A lazy peep gives excuses.~ Proverbs 26:13

A lazy peep wastes time and energy.~ Proverbs 18:9

A lazy peep believes he is wise.~ Proverbs 26:16

The Book of Proverbs also tells us the end in store for the lazy peep:

A lazy peep becomes a servant or debtor. ~Proverbs 12:24

A lazy peep’s future is bleak.~ Proverbs 20:4

A lazy peep will come to poverty.~ Proverbs 13:4

———————————————————————————————–

Ants are good team players, each doing their part always working together for the benefit of all.

You are wise as an ant if…

you understand your gifts and work within your specific abilities.

-you don’t need to have an overseer pushing you each day to get your tasks done.

-you can work with others.

-you are single focused when needed.

-you can help and share with others.

-you take rest seriously.

-you understand and respect timing.

-you are self motivated.

-you are creative.

-you are not lazy!

Go to the ant consider her ways, learn, and be wise!!

“Common sense is not so common.”

Make hay while the sun shines – that’s smart; go fishing during harvest- that’s stupid. Proverbs. 10:5

Even with a funny twist from the Message Bible, it is still a great truth! Everything we do should be done in wisdom.  Sometimes wisdom is spelled common sense.

Common sense => sound practical judgment- an internal sense, consists of what people… in common would agree on: that which they “sense” as their common natural understanding -sound judgment- good reasoning -ability to make sensible decisions.

If any lack wisdom, PROVERBS is a great place to start. Just ASK! God will open all the truths of this book for you to understand and follow.
~~~~~~
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you. Proverbs 2:9-11
And you will be my witnesses…
We live in the information age, but not all of us share the most important
information we have, the story of our new birth in Christ. This is  my story, friend. Don’t be afraid to share yours.  If you tell your story… they will listen.
Knowing was not enough!!
I used to invite people to church. I used to tell them that God loved them. That God was good and that He could change their lives for the better. I told many people  the most important decision in their life was to receive Jesus as their Savior and I truly believed it. For years I had witnessed God’s  love, power, and salvation. I wanted everybody to experience it.
And one good day… I realized that I needed God too! I needed to answer my own invitation. The truth I shared with others was not my own. I knew God through the experiences of others, but had not made Him my Lord and Savior. I knew Him from a distance, but that changed with one simple prayer. I called on the name of the Lord and He saved me, Alleluia!
I got on my knees on my livingroom floor and cried out to God and asked Him to be my God.
It was a wonderful moment.  My eyes were open to a greater truth, one I could be a part of. I was loved and forgiven.  Later on that week I publicly accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in my Sunday school class. For many people I was just a 12-year-old girl, but God took me seriously. He was now my God and my Savior too. Romans 10:13
Many years have passed, but receiving Him as my personal Savior has turned out to be the most important decision of my life. I have since experienced the transforming power of His love and salvation in my own life and I can tell you this. Knowing about truth and experiencing the truth are two very different things. I am so happy that I chose the second.
 *Do you truly know God as your personal God and Savior? Do not assume that you are  a Christian because of your good moral values, because you are a member of a church, or have been raised by Christian parents.  I was all that and found out that knowing about Him was not enough.  Job 42:5 was my redemdion story. ~I have heard of You only by the hearing of the ear, but now my spiritual eyes see You.~ If you don’t know Jesus as your personal savior – a simple prayer from your heart is all it takes. Romans 10:13
~
If you have receiced Jesus as your savior, share your story.  And you will be my witnesses…
~ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  Romans 10:14
How to get it right?
~decisions, decisions, decisions~
From the moment we wake up in the morning until the moment we lay our heads down at night, there is one thing we all have in common regardless our personality traits and/or inclinations. This would be that we all make decisions, from the most immediate things like; What clothes will I wear? to more complex things like, Who will I marry? We all make decisions and making decisions can be challenging.
There are many variables and challenges that come our way everyday and without God’s guidance we cannot be on the top of our game. We need His help to get it right!
Only in Him can your path be straightened and only in Him will all things work to your benefit. Never give up in your pursuit to follow His lead because His ways are higher and better than yours. Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Remember, it is good to have plans, but follow His directions. When in conflict, your plans should always yield to His plan.
I would like to encourage you today with some verses from the Book of Proverbs on this topic. Please read them. From these verses I drew an acronym for the word PLANS. It is not meant to be your ABCs of life, but more as key components that should be part of your decision-making process.
P.L.A.N.S.
P- Pray for direction.
L- Listen to counsel.
A- Always let God have the final word.
N- No need to rush. God’s timing is the right one.
S- Success should always be measured by God’s
standards and not men’s standards.
Can you Hear me Now?
 As a man thinks, in his heart so is he. Proverb 23:7
Just like a constant drop of water on a rock eventually leaves a mark on the rock, so will  words when they are heard over and over and over.
Spoken words are powerful.
The numbers of words filtered through your ears is more powerful than their source. And even if you tried to shut down all the sources that you believe are a menace, you cannot shut down the one with the greatest impact. This would be your own voice. Whether you realize it or not your words are constantly defining your reality
. You are defining your world.
Thoughts – words – actions ->>is how the movie of your life rolls. You think, speak and act accordingly, so be kind to yourself. Speak truth. Negative thoughts distort your selfimage. Did you know you are your first best friend forever? If what you hear yourself saying is not helping you, then you might want to consider changing your thoughts for God’s thoughts. You may say right now… but what I say is my truth! Yes, you are right! You think about it, you say it, and you live it out…
Renew your thoughts.
How about you renew your mind? Even though you may be a new creature in Christ it takes time to renew your thoughts. I am still working on mine. It is on ongoing process. Create new thoughts based on God’s words. Redefine your reality with His words. His words are true. God is for you! He loves you, has thoughts of peace for you, sings over you, is with you and has plans for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) Why would you not agree with His words? They are life.
“As a man thinks, in his heart so is he”
Proverbs 23:7
Every time you put God’s Word into your thought life, you are making an investment… Change your thoughts – Change your words- and Change your Life!
I Can Pick My Harvest!
The rainbow of red, yellows and browns, the dancing leaves and the soft change in temperatures truly make autumn a beautiful season.  God’s creation not only showers us with beauty, but it also speaks volumes of truths we should reflect on. Every season has a story and the story of autumn is more than just colors. It is all about harvest.
Harvest is life in motion.
It is the joy of bringing forth and receiving the fruit of the land as it births the product of the seed planted and nurtured weeks before.
Seed-time-harvest, this is the order we see in nature and in our spiritual lives harvest comes in the same way. You sow the seed, you nurture the seed and in due season you bring in the harvest.
Did you know that you do not get to pick and chose at harvest time?
What decides your harvest? Whether you realize it or not you sow first, you plant first. This is when you decide your harvest. What you reap depends on what you planted. You don’t get to pick and choose at harvest time… you pick your harvest when you sow.
If you are not pleased with the harvest in any area of your life don’t be discouraged. You can change it by planting new and good seed with God’s help. He is The Miracle Worker.
Now remember, planting is work and it is possible to have a good harvest even in the midst of hard times so never faint. Protect your seed. God’s word will equip you with all the knowledge you need to birth a GREAT HARVEST in your life and in your family as well!
Heart Food
Galatians 6:7-9  Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
 2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
